Abstract : We demonstrate high power high efficiency low noise single frequency operation of a compact external-cavity surface-emitting-semiconductor-laser exhibiting a wide continuous tunability with high beam quality. The lasers are operating in continuous wave regime at room temperature at wavelengths of 1μm and 2.3μm based on GaAs and Sb technologies. The intensity and frequency noise are studied. The key parameters limiting the laser power and coherence are studied. This design/properties can be extended to other wavelengths.
